The Plot

As children, brothers Sam and Dean Winchester were raised by their father John to hunt the paranormal and supernatural beings. Twenty-two years after their mother was killed by a demon, their father has disappeared. With their father missing and presumed dead, the two brothers have no choice but to carry out their father’s work themselves. In the search of the truth of what happened to their mother and father, the Winchester brothers will fight all manner of creatures such as vampires, demons, and ghosts.

Even before the release of the third season, it had been acknowledged that Stranger Things had become the flagship series of Netflix. This was solidified with the release of season three when over 40 million households, within four days, had tuned in to watch the latest season. Figures aside, the series is absolutely incredible. With an excellent ensemble of talented actors, an excellent story and fantastic score Stranger Things is one of the best series to date.

The Plot

In the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana, young Will Byers mysteriously disappears on his way home. The appearance of a young girl, known only as Eleven, has incredible abilities that are seemingly out of this world. Will’s friends enlist the help of Eleven to save him from the mysterious dimension, The Upside Down.

The Haunting of Hill House N

The smash-hit Original series of 2018, The Haunting of Hill House was a masterstroke by esteemed horror director Mike Flanagan. Chillingly brilliant, it’s no understatement when we say The Haunting of Hill House is easily one of the best series on Netflix to date.

The Plot

Twenty-six years after leaving Hill House, the Crane family is still haunted by the ghosts of their past. As they each reflect on their experiences from the time spent in the Haunted Home, the broken family must unite if they are to overcome whats haunts them.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina N

One of the most popular titles to arrive on Netflix in the past year was the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Unlike its Nickelodeon predecessor series, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has a gothic touch and a darker narrative. This more mature iteration of Sabrina has really hit home with subscribers, with many hoping to see the release of the third season as soon as possible.

On her sixteenth birthday, the half-witch and half-mortal Sabrina Spellman must choose her destiny. Will she choose the path of light? Or the path of night?

Lucifer N

Fans were shaken when FOX canceled Lucifer. When all hope seemed lost, Netflix revived the series, of which the latest season is now available to stream, with the fifth season on the way for a 2020 release date.

The Plot

Tired of being the Hell’s ruler, Lucifer Morningstar decides to leave his hellish throne so he can live on Earth. Arriving in the City of Angel, Los Angeles, Lucifer opens a nightclub and enjoys the sinful fruits of the Earth. Upon meeting Detective Chloe Decker, Lucifer becomes intrigued with helping the innocents and punishing criminals for their crimes. Joining the LAPD as a consultant, this is the only the beginning of Lucifer’s journey to liberate his darkened soul.

The Sixth Sense (1999)

The Sixth Sense has arguably been the career-defining movie of director M. Night Shyamalan’s career, and it’s easy to see why. Most famous for its huge plot twist, it should also be remembered for being, overall, a very enjoyable film to watch. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including; Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Editing.

The Plot

Child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe begins working with a young child, Cole Sear, that claims he can see ghosts. As Crowe slowly unravels the mystery behind Cole’s ability to see the paranormal, it leads to a shocking discovery that will change his life forever.

The Conjuring (2013)

Breathing life into a growingly disenfranchised genre was The Conjuring. Under the watchful eye of acclaimed Horror director James Wan, the supernatural was allowed to thrive again. Starting a shared universe that has since made $1.92 billion at the box office, suffice to say, The Conjuring and its subsequent titles have been a dramatic success.

The Plot

Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren are contacted by the Perron family after coming into contact with a strange malevolent spirit that haunts their Rhode Island home. After discovering the tragic and deadly past of the house, the lives of the Perron family are in danger and the Warren’s must put their own lives on the line to stop the wicked spirit.

Candyman (1992)

One of the unsung heroes of horror, Candyman is a classic supernatural-slasher film. The slasher franchise had begun to loosen its grip on the horror box office at the start of the 90s, which isn’t surprising thanks to an over-inflated amount of slasher titles throughout the 80s. Candyman brought back some well-needed originality and is easily one of the most fascinating horrors of the decade.

The Candyman, a murderous soul with a hook for a hand, is accidentally summoned to reality by a skeptic grad student researching the monster’s myth.

Carrie (1976)

The first adaptation, of the first Stephen King novel, is a classic title from the 70s. Carrie has been adapted twice since and has been featured numerous times over the decades in pop culture. On a budget of $1.8 million, the film made an enormous $33.8 million return at the box office.

The Plot

Sheltered by her overbearing and domineering religious mother, Carrie has always been an outcast. The shy, and softspoken girl begins to develop powers that of which she struggles to control. When her bullying schoolmates humiliate her on the night of her prom, those powers are unleashed as they feel the fury of Carrie’s vengeance.
