Merlin – Picture: BBC / Freemantle The BBC series Merlin will soon be departing Netflix around the globe as its licensing rights end with the streaming service. The show will depart globally on December 15th, 2022. Airing between 2008 and 2012, five seasons of the fantasy series loosely based on the Arthurian legends were produced in total. 65 episodes were produced in total, with the story centering around a young warlock played by Colin Morgan.

See You On Venus, an YA romance adaptation that’s due to arrive on November 17th.  Filmed in Spain, the romantic drama has a runtime of an hour and a half and follows an orphaned 18-year-old, Mia, who is trying to track down her biological mother, venturing on her journey with the help of Kyle.

Picture: Netflix An official selection of the Berlin International Film Festival, Spaceman is the latest Netflix film starring lead actor Adam Sandler, who has 12 Netflix Originals under his belt as an actor and a few more as a producer under his Happy Madison Productions banner. Based on the 2017 novel “Spaceman of Bohemia” by Jaroslav Kalfar, the film stars Sandler as astronaut Jakub Prochazka, a man from the Czech countryside who rose through the ranks to become the country’s most important astronaut to date.

Stargate SG-1 – Picture: MGM Television Stargate SG-1, added to Netflix in December 2020, will be leaving Netflix in December 2022 having already departed for a brief time between December 2021 and February 2022.  Only Netflix in the United States received 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1 in December 2020 with most other regions of Netflix having streamed the series many years ago. Netflix UK, for instance,lost Stargate SG-1 back in February 2016.

Surviving R. Kelly – Picture: Lifetime First released in January 2019 on Lifetime, the docu-series exposing R. Kelly was later added to Netflix, delivering it to a huge new audience. The influential docuseries then saw a follow-up season and a documentary special added to Netflix but all were removed from Netflix in the United States in April 2022. The documentaries subsequently returned in June 2022. Netflix has slowly been losing the show around the world, having picked up the global licensing rights back in September 2019.

Picture: Universal Television In several key international regions, Netflix is set to lose the licensed show The Bold Type in March 2023.  The series starred Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee, Meghann Fahy, and Sam Page and was about three women who worked at the biggest women’s magazine in the country. Created by Sarah Watson, the comedy-drama series ran for five seasons across 52 episodes airing on Freeform between 2017 and 2021.

Picture: A24 One of the new big documentaries for Netflix in 2023 will be The Deepest Breath which Netflix acquired the distribution rights from A24 ahead of its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in early 2023. We’ve now learned the documentary will arrive in July 2023 on July 19th, 2023.
