Wonder is now streaming on Netflix – Picture: Lionsgate
It’s time for another rundown of what’s new on Netflix. While this week was quieter than last week’s 70+ new arrivals, there are still several titles worth watching, particularly on the new movie side. Here’s a rundown of the 28 new movies and series, plus a look at what’s been trending in the Netflix top 10.
Quick note: Given how late we were to post last weekend, we’re trying to catch up slowly with a Saturday post today and back to our usually scheduled Friday post starting next week.
To see what’s still to come to Netflix for the rest of June 2024, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix for the latest.
Now, let’s get into some highlights for this week!

You’ll follow his home life as he enters mainstream elementary school for the first time.

Netflix has a big swing in the movie department this week, and it also happens to be their biggest movie release for June. We’re referring to Hit Man, a new action comedy featuring Glen Powell. Powell is the darling of Hollywood right now following Top Gun: Maverick and his performance in the rom-com Anyone But You.
In this movie, the director’s second major Netflix Original project, we follow a professor who leads a double life, with his alter ego(s) being a fake hitman.
We gave the movie a four-star review yesterday, concluding:
“Hit Man is a surefire win for Powell, Linklater, & Netflix. Laughs, sex appeal, a little philosophical debate, & a darkly playful moral quandary make the film intriguing all the way through. While the ending may feel a bit too breezy or divisive considering the subject matter, the talented cast & creators will help you smile through the potential unease. It’s Powell & Arjona at their absolute best with Linklater doing his most entertaining work since Everybody Wants Some!.”
Number of episodes: 8
Rating: TV-14
Language: English
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama
Cast: Nonso Anozie, Christian Convery, Adeel Akhtar
Writer: Jim Mickle, Beth Schwartz
Runtime: 55 mins
Rounding out our picks is Sweet Tooth, which ends after three seasons with what we believe is a perfect send-off. The series has never been a runaway success for Netflix, so it’s welcome that the show gets to go out on its own terms.
Here’s what you can expect going into the final batch of episodes:
“Having defeated General Abbot in the battle at Pubba’s Cabin, Gus, Jepperd, Becky, and Wendy embark on a journey to Alaska in search of Gus’s mother, Birdie, who has been working to uncover the mysterious origins of the deadly Sick. Along the way, they are joined by Dr. Singh, who may have his own dangerous beliefs about Gus and his role in reversing the virus.”

It was a very busy week in the Netflix movie top 10s for the US, with over 20 titles featuring in total. Taking home the most points, however, is the first-of-the-month license of the hit Japanese entry in the Godzilla franchise, which has dominated around the world.

Managing to stem off stiff competition from Benedict Cumberbatch is the docu-series that follows the insane story of a TikTok cult.
